On June 27, BIGBANG’s Daesung welcomed the members of rookie co-ed idol group ALLDAY PROJECT—Annie, Tarzzan, Bailey, Woochan, and Youngseo—to his YouTube show Zip Daesung, offering fans a rare, candid look into their debut journey.
One of the most buzzworthy moments came when Annie, granddaughter of Shinsegae Group Chairwoman Lee Myung-hee and daughter of Shinsegae Inc. President Jung Yoo-kyung, shared how she overcame family expectations to pursue her dream of becoming a K-pop idol.
“They were firmly against it at first,” Annie revealed. “But after I insisted on pursuing it, they said, ‘If you get into an Ivy League school, we’ll allow it.’” True to her word, she was admitted to Columbia University, which finally earned her the green light from her influential family.
Asked by Daesung whether their love of K-pop influenced the decision, Annie revealed that her mom is a huge BIGBANG fan. “My family used to listen to BIGBANG, 2NE1, BLACKPINK, and 1TYM all the time. On our first big family trip, my mom was obsessed with ‘Fantastic Baby.’ She downloaded the MV and played it nonstop on the tour bus. She even memorized every accessory in the video because she watched it so much.” Daesung was floored. “Even I don’t remember all the accessories in that MV,” he laughed.
Annie also shared that she and Tarzzan were the first to join ALLDAY PROJECT. According to her, Teddy, the founder of THEBLACKLABEL, brought them together and said, “You’re a team now. You two figure out how to get close.” In response, Tarzzan asked Annie to go to the aquarium with him—marking the humble beginnings of their team chemistry.
Another member, Youngseo, also opened up about her unexpected journey to the group. When she joined THEBLACKLABEL, she was told she wouldn’t be debuting in a girl group, which left her confused. “I actually thought I might be debuting with AI artists,” she said. However, she trusted the company’s vision and later found out that she would become the final member of ALLDAY PROJECT.
